Order by problem

Hi,

I have this query

SELECT TOP 3 Total FROM Results WHERE TestDate = '" & getpdate & "' order by Total desc"

when the results are displayed they are like this

UNC     Richard Moore  1890.23
UFL     Dixie Bush        90.23
UCL     Robert Max     1456.45
d

can someone tell me why the order is not working

because i want UCL above UFL as the points are higher
