Hi , how are you all I get the following error when i try to create a relationship between two tables: 'tblProductTypes' table saved successfully 'tblProducts2Displays2Stores' table - Unable to create relationship 'FK_tblProducts2Displays2Stores_tblProductTypes'. The ALTER TABLE statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_tblProducts2Displays2Stores_tblProductType s". using SQLserver db dynamically   (243 Views)
I would like to create program that load SQLserver database file from a mobile disk (eg. flash disk), the db should be flexible to move to any other computer and SHOULD NOT stay in the harddisk i've been thinkin of solution: 1. i should do automatically attach of db to the sqlserver everytime i load the program 2. auto detach the db when finish using the program 3. and the file will be in .mdf instead of a backup file (since backup file need restoration and restoration will restore file to the harddisk ) is my solution correct or is there any better solution
Timeout expired error on SQL Server query with subquery   (400 Views)
hi, i have an ASP page that is querying an SQL database, and a SQL timeout expired '80040e31' error occurs on the line. The query is resonably standard, except there is a correlated subquery to do a COUNT of 'other users' who registered lately against the same school. Is there a way to make the query more efficient, (uncorrelate the subquery or something) so that the timeout error does not occur I could take out the subquery, and then do a seperate query on each userID to see if there are 'other users' for that user, but i think that might be less efficient than using the subquery (only about 1 in 10 users has 'other users'). The users table has about 40000 records, and no field is very large, varchar 300 would be about the biggest.

XML Boolean value to SQL Server BIT   (210 Views)
I am working on an application written in Visual FoxPro 7 that produces an XML file of a recordset. One of the fields in this XML file is type="xsd:boolean" with a value of "false". My application then calls a SQL Server stored procedure that does a bulk update using this XML file(converted to a stream) and OPENXML(). Unfortunately, the corresponding field in the SQL database is BIT. When I run the stored procedure I get an error: Syntax error converting the nvarchar value 'false' to a column of datatype BIT. The XML stream has schema information that clearly defines this field as BOOLEAN. How can I get around this datatype inconsistency - type conversions, etc.
Microsoft OLE DB provider for SQL Server not available   (206 Views)
I have just written screeds to explain this very frustrating problem and the system didn't accept my login so here goes again. I am using codecharge studio to develop a web application and am having huge problems with making a connection to an SQL database. The problem occurs with the connection string builder. I have tried other providers e.g. to an Access database and they all work. The provider causing grief is Microsft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server. the error message is that the provider is no longer available. I ran the DEPENDS utility and it would appear to be related to a file called MSDART.DLL, which caused me a heap of grief the other night and I thought I had resolved it by reinstallind MDAC 2.8 but this is not the case. I cannot afford to do a total system reinstall as I simply do not have the time and I will end up losing a heap of work so need to resolve it some other method. I am desperate to get it solved as I have the opportunity of doing a contract which will give some much needed funds as I have been without income for over 8 weeks as well. Cheers Lesley
Invalid object name with SQL db   (317 Views)
Moved a SQL database to another server and now the website gives the following error. Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e37' [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Invalid object name 'active_users'. /activeusers.asp, line 10 Just changed the DSN to reflect teh new server and added the db to the new machine and setup the user as dbo. Can't see why this happens, if I point the DSN to the old server it works fine. These are the lines the error references: 9 = StrSql = "DELETE FROM active_users WHERE Last_Seen < '" & StrOnlineTimedout & "'" 10 = conn.execute (StrSql) Any ideas on why this happens I've gotten nowhere with it
Timeout error   (218 Views)
I have an excel program that runs every 10 minutes that gets data from files and inserts it in a table in the SQL server. Most of the time it runs ok. However when the network has heavy use, it generates a "Timeout" error. How do I prevent this
